Saving animals has truly become my passion. About five years ago, I came across an Instagram post about dogs being tortured and killed for food in Asia and was just gobsmacked by that. That day changed my entire life… I couldn’t stop researching and following international dog rescues to learn more and more. It’s extremely hard to unsee videos of animals being sold, tortured and abused. Those terrified faces and haunting screams changed me as a person.
In 2019, I came across a post about this emaciated, sick dog that was literally just yanked off of a meat truck by brave activists. A rescue in China took him and a few more in, and I was hooked on the incredible story. As they got to know this one particular dog a little bit better, the rescue named him Sparta. A strong name for a strong little man.
I just knew he was destined to be ours. After 6 long months of waiting, we finally brought our miracle baby home. Sparta changed our world and even more so, lit the fire underneath us to do more. How could this dog be so loving, happy and sweet AFTER all the abuse he had endured?!
Our journey led me to start volunteering and donating to various different rescues. Through that, I encountered many other like-minded individuals, which ultimately encouraged me to start TB3. The Big 3 Rescue was created in honor of my 3 dogs rescued from the Asian meat trade!

In the past, I have adopted dogs and cats from shelters, as well as volunteered and raised money for local dog rescues. In 2020, I stumbled upon horrific stories of the Dog Meat Trade on social media and could not look away. We adopted our first meat trade survivor from China in 2020, and she arrived in early 2021.
Lola, a golden retriever, was the sweetest and most timid dog we had ever met. We were all in love and couldn’t believe the torture that might have been her fate if she was not rescued in China.
In the last year, she has become a more trusting, confident and happy girl. I love sharing her story and have become even more passionate about volunteering to help these survivors find forever homes. I’m so grateful to be able to do that with the amazing TB3 team.

As a life long animal lover, I have always been passionate about helping animals in whichever way I can, so have been active in animal rescue for as long as I can remember.
After losing my soul dog Poppy in 2020, I came accross a little meat trade poodle named Petal in need of a home. By the end of my phone interview to adopt her, I had committed to doing whatever it would take to be Petal (now Lilly Petal’s) forever family & had been convinced to dedicate my time and skills to rescuing dogs from the meat trade.
Fast forward 2 years and my husband and I have created a non-profit called The Poppy Project in honour of our dog Poppy, which is active in supporting The Big 3’s work. We fundraise for freedom flights & welcome TB3 dogs to the UK so they can meet their new families which is the most special experience. It’s an honour to work alongside Natalie & Annette to help these beautiful dogs and find them the best homes.
